A commentary on Panini’s S'iksa. For this commentary cf. Ind. Anti, vol. V. p. 195. “A very modern and worthless anonymous commentary,...The authorities he quotes are:- S’abdakaustubha, S’abdendus’ekhara,...S'ridhara and Suyajna.” This conclusion of Dr. Kielhorn, however, does not seem to be correct. See I. O., No. 544, where from the concluding verses, it is clear that the commentary was composed in Samvat 1454, by Dharanidhara, pupil of Mahadeva, during the reign of king Udayasinha and the ministership of Viramadeva. My MS. does not quote the authorities mentioned by Dr. Kielhom. The text of the Paniniya S’iksa commented upon by Dharanidhara consists of 21 couplets for which see I.O., No. 544; see also, Weber, II. p. 94. No. 1500, where this is said to be the Yajus recension of the Paniniya S’iksa. |
