वृत्तजातिसमुच्चय

Resource Type : Manuscript
Author : गोपाल.
Year/Date of Publication : 1861
Original Era : संवत 1918
Subject : Prosody
Script : Devanagari Handwriting
Notes/Description : A commentary on Vrittajatisamuccaya, by Gopala, son of Cakrapala. The commentary is also called Kairatta. The present MS. was copied for Dr. Bhau Daji, from an old palm-leaf MS., at Jesalmir, dated Samvat 1192. See Dalal, Cat. of Jesalmir MSS., No. 238 (4). The commentator had to obtain the correct version of the text, mutilated by the carelessness of the scribes and ignorant reciters, by collating several MSS. which he procured from his friends. This speaks for the high antiquity of the text. Gopala, of course, must have lived before Samvat 1192, which is the date of the Jesal. MS.
