Suvrttatilaka is a work in three chapters called Nyasas, on Prosody by Ksemendra also called Vyasadasa, son of Prakas'endra and grandson of Sindhu. He wasa pupil of Abhinavagupta in Sahitya. He lived under Ananta- raj of Kas'mir (1029-64 A. D.) and his son Kalas’a. See Buhler, Kas’mir Report, p. 46.His Das’avataracarita was composed in 1061 A. D. during the reign of Kalas’a. Kavikanthabharana,Brhatkathamanjari, Bhtaratamanjari and Aucityavicaracarca are some of his important works.In the first chapter of the work, a description of various metres and author’s own examples under each of these are given. The second chapter treats of the merits and demerits of versification and the third deals with the proper employment of metres. |
