Katantravyakarana with a commentary called Balavabodha, composed in Samvat 1444, by Merutunga, pupil of Mahendraprabha, of the ncalagaccha. Jayas’ekhara, the author of Upades’a cintamani (samvat 1436) was a fellow-student of our Merutunga. see No. 1565. below. The dates for Merutunga given in the pattavali of the Ancalagaccha are:- birth, Samvat 1403; diksa, Sam. 1418; acaryapada, Sam. 1426; gacchanayaka, Sam. 1446 ; death Sam. 1471. Another Merutunga, pupil of Candraprabha, composed his Prabandha-cintamani in Samvat 1362, and was also the author of a Mahapurusa-carita, otherwise called Upades’asata. cf. Weber, II. p. 1024; Peterson, Reports.III. Ap. p. 266; V. p. 43, for the Mahapurusacarita. The present MS. professes to have been copied down from an earlier MS. written in Samvat 1403. This is obviously impossible. At the order of our Merutunga, a MS. was copied at Cambay in Samvat 1470, for which see No. 80 below. |
