Notes/Description | : | Karanakaustubha is a chapter from an astronomical work called Tantraratna composed by Krsna, son of Mahadeva, at the instance of King S'iva. Krsna would seem to be a pupil of Kes’ava Daivajna. According to Diksit, p. 290,the work was composed in A. D. 1653 at the order of S'ivaji the Great. Our Tantraratna seems to be different from a Tantric work of that name composed by Kysna Vidyavagis'a.For this latter, cf. Mitra, Notices, I. p. 126;I. 0., No. 2573. |
