समरसार of रामचन्द्र वाजपेयी.

Resource Type : Manuscript
Subject : Prognostication
Script : Devanagari Handwriting
Notes/Description : A short treatise in 85 s’lokas, on supernatural devices to ensure success in warfare, composed by Ramacandra Vajapeyi, son of Suryadasa, son of S'ivadasa. Ramacandra composed his Kundamandapalaksana in Samvat 1506; see below No.419. He lived in NaimiSa and was honoured at the court of Rama, king of Ratnapoor. For portions of his Karmapradipika, see I. O., Nos.427 and 446. He was also the author of Yantraprakas’a with commentary; his mother’s name was Vis’alaksa and his gura was S'ribharati; cf. Peterson, Reports, IV Extracts, pp. 54-57.Nadipariksa is another work of Ramacandra which was composed in Samvat 1504; cf. Cat.Nepal MSS., by Hamprasada S'astri, p. 198.The concluding verse there, I think, ought to be read as follows :—Mr. S’astri’s interpretation of this verse, according to which the work was composed in Samvat 1405 (एकोनतिथि=14 ; शर=५ i. e. 1405 ?See his MSS. Reports, I. p. 10) is obviously impossible on account of the known date of Ramacandra’s other work and also because, in the interpretation, we have to set aside the usual rule i. e. अङ्कानां वामतो गति:, which is rarely dis-regarded by the Sanskrt writers.Prayas'cittapaddhati, Which is mentioned as a work of our Ramacandra by Mr. S'astri, at Reports, I. p. 15, is only another name of Karma-pradipika ; see I. O., No. 446.According to Diksit, p. 476, footnote, Rama-candra had also written a work called Karanacintamani.
