This work is ascribed to Panini and is attached to the Rgveda and has eleven sections giving 60 couplets in all.The first four folios of this MS. are marked शि. च. which shows that they originally formed part of the S'iksacatustaya which consists of S'iksa, Jyautisa, Chandas and Nighantu. See No. 9 below and I. O., Nos. 539-40. The work has been published by Weber in Indische Studien, vol. IV., and repeatedly thereafter. For another recension in 21 couplets only, see I. O., No. 544, where the work is accompanied by a commentary composed in Samvat 1454 by Dharanidhara. See also No. 10 below, for both, and Weber II, p. 94, where this second recension is called the Yajus recension. |
